My name is Daniel Auchenpaugh, and I’m not affiliated with any segment of the beverage industry by trade. However, I do love beverages of all types. Beer, tea, soda, coffee, wine, cocktails, scotch, liquers, port, juices, and pretty much anything else that can be pour into and from a glass. I have no formal training in anything that I’m writing about, but am passionate to learn more about it all. My opinions are not facts and you shouldn’t take my word for law; if you feel I’ve made a mistake, then please correct me! This blog is to record my journey in drinks and educate and inspire others on their own, but I’m here to learn as well.

I will often link to wikipedia in my posts, because I feel that wiki articles can provide a nice, short overview on a topic that I don’t feel I need to rehash here on the blog. While I can’t assign required reading for my viewers, I highly encourage people to check out the associated links to learn more. Who knows what interesting things you’ll learn by doing so, too!

I’m a novice homebrewer with very little experience, so I hope my homebrew blogs can help people avoid mistakes or just develop their interest in the hobby. This is really an area where I’m a fledgling, and could use all the helpful tips that I can get. It is also a battle with my patience, as there is a lot of waiting involved in the process of homebrewing.

Finally, for the general factual information… I’m 25 years old and live with my wife, Samantha, in Denver, Colorado. We’re both foodies, and she also knows the value of a good drink. I spent four years at Starbucks and a year doing video game journalism on the radio in Alabama. I’ve been enlisted in the United States Air Force for 5 years so far, and have been stationed in Alabama, California, Maryland, and Texas. I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia; the original plan was to stay there and earn my computer science degree, but many distractions prevent that. I enjoy spending time in the mountains, finding good food, and playing a lot of board/video games with my friends and family. If there are questions left unanswered, then feel free to contact me!

Also, as a note, if you want me to try a specific beverage for Drink of the Day, please just let me know and I’ll do my best to get it on there.
